About the artist

Mandy is a secondary school art educator and practicing artist who resides in Burlington, Ontario with her husband and dog. She loves the outdoors, and enjoys capturing the vivid colours and unique patterns found within nature. Much of her subject matter is inspired by our diverse and ever changing Canadian landscape, wildlife, and of course roses.

Mandy loves to create art in a variety of media, including printmaking and digital illustrations, but she specializes in painting. She uses palette knives, found objects, and bold brushstrokes to create interesting textures and movement.

In the past, her work has been exhibited at the Harbourfront Centre as well as the Blackwood Gallery. Her prints were recently on sale at Meg’s Octopus Garden in downtown Burlington. She has only recently begun to sell her artwork, and is leaning in to the beautiful vulnerability of sharing her creations with the world.

She is looking forward to her Artist Residency at Killarney Park this summer, as well as participating in Art in the Park in Oakville.

About the studio

The significance of the rose and how Mandy’s business name came to be are both interconnected.

She has always loved studying the delicate and beautiful details of a rose: their sharp and menacing thorns contrasted with their soft and stunning petals that slowly reveal their unique textures and hues as they bloom.

Mandy’s Aunt Rose was also an inspiration, as she was both fierce and gentle, strong and beautiful.
